In 2016 we launched our very own Scout Shop. The shop’s primary function is to ensure affordable Scouting for our parents and make Scouting easier for our leaders by providing a simple way to buy uniform, equipment and those all important badges.

All profits from the District Scout Shop benefit Scouting locally while providing extraordinary value for money.  As a virtual shop, we are able to sell our range cheaper than the RRP; while still generating enough profit from parents to see that a proportion of sales even makes it back to their young person’s Group! Part of what's remaining goes to benefit our International Scouting Fund and the trip to Nord2017. We think we’ve found the perfect formula that ensures everyone is a winner!

As an official District Scout Shop we are able to offer the full range of items available from the main Scout Association Shop, including badges, but at discounted prices to Mersey Weaver District members and parents of MW Beavers/Cubs/Scouts/Explorers. We are also the only official supplier of the Mersey Weaver District badge.

The shop operates mainly as an online shop but we keep a limited range of uniform and clothing so that you can check sizes before buying.

Nord is a National Scout Jamboree for the Norwegian Scout and Guide association, with guests, from 1st to 8th July 2017 in Bodø. During the summer weeks, the sun never sets and the scouts can enjoy great activities day and night.

The campsite lies close to the center of Bodø, within walking distance from the airport, train and bus station.

Be prepared to go north for a week packed with exciting experiences, beautiful scenery, amazing light and many new friends!

Mersey Weaver is a Scout District in Cheshire that is the result of the merger of  North West Cheshire and Widnes Districts. 

Mersey Weaver is one of the larger district’s under Cheshire County Scouts catering for young people between the ages of 6 and 25 with a total membership of around 1,412 (and growing).

Scouting in the UK provides adventurous activities and personal development opportunities for half a million young people (including 60,000 girls). Internationally over 28 million young people and 4 million adult volunteers enjoy the benefits of Scouting across 216 countries.

Personal development means promoting the physical, intellectual, social and spiritual well-being of the individual, helping them achieve their full potential. In Scouting, we believe that young people develop most when they are ‘learning by doing,’ when they are given responsibility, work in teams, take acceptable risks and think for themselves.

The District is made up of 17 Scouts Groups (which includes a Sea Scout Group recognised by the Royal Navy), and 4 Explorer Scout Units which cater for young persons from the age of six upwards:

• Beavers (aged 6 – 8yrs)
• Cubs (8 – 10yrs)
• Scouts (10 – 14yrs)
• Explorer Scouts (14-18yrs);

and adults:

• Network (18-25yrs)
• Active Support Unit (18 years upwards)

The Norwegian Guide and Scout Association is an ideal organisation based on teaching children, youth and adults the fundamentals of responsibility taking, accepting challenges, new experiences and personal development.

“Learning by doing” and leader training are important elements of the movement. Other important elements are outdoor activities, friendship, practical knowledge and improved quality of life.

In Norway there are 30 000 members of the scout and guide movement. 19 000 are organized in the Norwegian Guide and Scout Association in 450 local groups spread over 29 districts.

The scouts are divided into the following age groups:

• Beavers: pre-school children
• Cubs/Brownies: 7 – 10 years of age
• Scouts/Guides in troop: 10 – 16 years of age
• Rovers: 16 - 25 years.

Guides and Scouts spend much time in the outdoors all year round. Exploring the wilderness on foot, on skis and in canoes and boats, as well as learning how to use a map and compass are important activities. It is also important for the scouts to know how to light a campfire and to prepare their meals on an open fire all year round. Mountain climbing, walking on glaciers and building snow caves are also challenging, but typical activities for the scouts.
